HOW TO GET TO NOZAWA ONSEN

How to get to Nozawa Onsen from Tokyo: From Narita or Haneda Airports, take the NE’X express train to Tokyo Station. Then take Nagano Shinkansen (bullet train) to its final destination, Nagano (one hour and forty minutes). From Nagano, take the local train: JR Iiyama line, to Togarinozawaonsen (one hour, JPY740). From Togarinozawaonsen station you can take a local bus (JPY300), taxi, or, if you advise Nozawa Hospitality in advance, they may be able to pick you up. Both train tickets can be purchased in Tokyo. Depending on the arrival time of the shinkansen, you might be able to take an express bus direct to Nozawa Onsen. For larger parties (6 or more), Nozawa Hospitality can arrange a private bus. For this option, enquire at res@nozawahospitality.com. Also, if you are traveling on the peak days, such as January 1st, it is highly recommended that you make your reservations well in advance for the train at: [http://www.eki-net.com/pc/jreast-shinkansen-reservation/English/wb/common/Menu/Menu.aspx]. You can always get an unreserved seat even if the train is full, though you may not get a seat at busy times.

Depending on how much train travel you intend to do it may be worth getting a Japan Rail Pass. This can lead to very substantial savings but can only be purchased outside of Japan ie before you leave home. Check out: http://www.japantravel.com.au/List-Rail-Passes.asp for details

Train Timetables Below are this years train timetables. They serve as a guide to the train journey between Tokyo and Nozawa Onsen. This will be updated when the 2015 timetable is made available.

EXTRA NIGHTS

Please be aware that we do not hold any hotel reservations outside of the conference period. However, we are happy to put you in touch with our in-country agents who can help you in this regard.  Hotel prices do drop outside of our meeting dates as the meeting has been planned to occur over the Festival period. If you are staying extra nights it is also worth trying to source accommodation yourself.

CME

Past meetings were accredited for MOPS points by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and CPD points by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. We will be applying for this again in 2014.
